BRUNSWICK – Lillian C. Stewart, 95, of Topsham, died Thursday evening, July 12, at the Midcoast Senior Healthcare Facility.

She was born in Providence, R.I., March 13, 1912, the daughter of Daniel and Hattie Adams Chamberlain. In 1926, when she was a young girl, her family moved to Reading, Mass., where she graduated from high school in 1930.

In 1935 she married Boyd Stewart, who became town accountant and town clerk of Reading, where they happily raised their two boys.

She enjoyed life with her husband, family, and her many friends while working part time and staying active in the community. She enjoyed knitting, stencilling and playing bridge. She also belonged to the local garden club. She was a devoted wife and mother and was kind, loyal, and always tried to do what she thought was right.

Lillian and Boyd retired to West Dennis, Mass., in the late 60s, where they made many new friends and enjoyed their later years together.

She is survived by her sons, Spencer Stewart and his wife, Dona, of Lisbon Falls, and Daniel Stewart and his wife, Roz, of Junction City, Ore. She also leaves five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Boyd, in 1996.
