Dear Sun Spots: This fall, Montello Elementary School students will be, with your help, learning a new life-long skill. Several staff members will be donating their time, after school, to teach fifth-grade students to sew and quilt.

These students would also learn to give back to the community by donating their quilts to organizations within the community. In order to accomplish this worthwhile project, we would need several items:

• Sewing machines: They don’t need to be new or fancy, just in working condition.

• Fabric: Any and all. We’ll accept scraps to yardage.

• Notions: Pins, patterns, trims, and more or any items you don’t want, need or have doubles of.

Dear Sun Spots: All of us senior citizens and disabled people would like to thank you and all the column readers for helping us with the 30-gallon drums to put under our dock at the lake.

We got enough to do the job and plus we got some wood to replace the old broken boards. Now we can get in the boat so much easier.
