AUBURN – Robert J. Roy, 79, of Auburn died Tuesday, July 24, with loved ones by his side at the Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice House.

He was born July 7, 1928, in Hebron, the son of the late William and Alvina Roy. He worked at Decoster Egg Farm for many years as a maintenance man. Most recently, he worked parttime at Jack Ray’s Auto for a special friend and boss. He was a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Auburn. He was our very special social butterfly, being one of the first members of the Singles Club, he also served on the Board of Directors since 1975. He loved spending time with his many friends at the Lewiston Social Club and at the Sparetime Race Track in Lewiston. He was an avid dancer, just ask his many “sweets.”

He leaves his four children, Diane Sampson of New Hampshire, Allan Roy, and his wife, Doris, of Sabattus, Theresa Cyr, and her husband, Marc, of Sabattus, Karole MacFarlane, and her hsuband, Marsh, of Arizona; a stepson, Patrick Roy of Lewiston; seven grandchildren, Sarah Ittig, Kaitlyn Sampson, Jamie Roy, Brian Roy, April Cyr, Ashley Cyr and Mikeala MacFarlane; two great-grandchildren, Brandon Roy and Destiny Harvey; his wonderful sister, Theresa Gilbert of Auburn, with whom he shared his life; her children. Connie Landry and Marie Beaucage; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; his brother, Henry Roy; and his sisters, Mabel Bouthot and Lorraine Scipione.

The family would like to offer special thanks to the Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice staff and to Dr. Austin for their wonderful care, both in the home and at the Hospice House. Many thanks to all his friends for their cheerful visits.
