LOVELL – The Blue Hill Brass Quintet has been delighting audiences throughout New England for more than twenty years. Members of the group have played with the foremost musical ensembles in the state including Portland symphony Orchestra, the Bangor Symphony Orchestra, the Al Corey Orchestra and the Maine Chamber Ensemble. Their performances feature music of the past five centuries. Their repertoire includes a variety of works, from “Bouree” from “Suite #3 for Unaccompanied Cello” by J. S. Bach, to the widely known and ever-popular “When the Saints Go Marching In.”

Members of the Quintet are Curtis Brossmer, trumpet, principal trumpeter with the Bangor Symphony Orchestra; Scott Burditt, horn, a Maine native and the Principal Horn for the Bangor Symphon; Allen Graffam, trumpet, a member of the Maine Chamber Ensemble; Paul Greenstone, tuba, who has studied extensively with members of several highly regarded symphony orchestras, and has been the Director of Bands at Cornell College and the University of Alaska at Fairbanks; Stephen Norris, trombone, served as band director in several high schools, and is presently the director of junior high band for Bangor.

This event is sponsored by the family and friends of the late Gladys Littlefield as a memorial tribute. Gladys was a long time Lovell resident, a mother, wife, daughter, sister, friend, neighbor and teacher. She was the Lovell kindergarten teacher who welcomed a generation of children to their first day of school. Her daughter, Phyllis Hetzler, said of Gladys that she always loved a good brass concert, a trip to the ocean, a report that former students had done well, but most of all, she loved her family.
