BOOTHBAY – The Auburn White Sox ran their league-leading record to 8-1 Wednesday night in the Central Maine Senior Baseball League, trimming the Boothbay Dodgers 7-1 at Boothbay High School.
The Sox tallied 4 runs in the third inning. Sean Cheetham walloped a solo homer, Jim Wacenske drilled a 2-run hit, and another run scored on a dropped fly ball. The Sox made it 6-0 in the fourth, Steve Labossiere connecting for a sacrifice fly, and Dan Coleman belting an RBI single.
The Dodgers tallied their lone run in th fifth on a Peter Connors RBI single.
Auburn scored an insurance run in the sixth. Ron Plourde doubled and scored on a throwing error. Repeat hitters were Dan Coleman and Wacenske.
Marc Gosselin hurled the first 5 innings and gained the win. Plourde relieved and pitched 2 scoreless innings.
The Sox, now 8-1, will host the rival Lewiston Outlaws (5-4) Sunday at 9 a.m. at Pettengill Park.
