DURHAM – The Androscoggin Land Trust will host a picnic for friends and supporters from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, at Durham River Park.

Typically held along the banks of the Androscoggin River, this year the trust will partner with the Durham Conservation Commission and host the picnic with the new Durham Farmer’s Market at River Park.

The park is a 12-acre parcel owned by the town of Durham and permanently protected for recreational use through a conservation easement held by the trust since 2000. The park is in the trust’s southern service area, which encompasses more than 450 acres of land in Sabattus, Bowdoin, Lisbon and Durham.

Anyone interested in knowing more about the organization is encouraged to attend and learn about the trust’s mission, conserved lands and upcoming projects while taking a walk through the park.

The trust is a membership-supported conservation organization dedicated to protecting the natural areas, traditional landscapes and outdoor experience along the central Androscoggin River corridor. It conserves more than 2,800 acres of land, including six miles of riverfront along the Androscoggin River. Visit www.androscogginlandtrust.org for more information about the work.

Durham River Park is well-marked and located on Route 136, north of the junction of Routes 9 and 136.
