LEWISTON – Androscoggin Habitat for Humanity is seeking volunteers to help with the ongoing construction of a house at 144 Golder Road.
No experience is necessary, although people with building skills are especially welcome, said volunteer coordinator Dan Lagrange.
“Volunteers work with experienced builders and will be taught the skills they need,” he said. Men and women over the age of 18 are invited to take part. To volunteer or for more information, call 212-6820.
Groups are needed to serve lunch at the building site on Saturdays, when the most volunteers are present, Lagrange said.
Also needed are volunteers for fundraising projects such as a food booth at the Great Falls Balloon Festival, donations of money to purchase building materials and donations of used building materials.
U.S. Rep. Mike Michaud’s office has confirmed that he will help with the building on Aug. 20. He is the first to accept an Androscoggin Habitat for Humanity invitation to volunteer under the Congress Building America program. This is a nationwide public-private-nonprofit partnership between Habitat for Humanity International, the U.S. Congress and national corporate and nonprofit sponsors.
