AUBURN – Monday, Aug. 20, will be a sign-up day for potential contestants for the 2008 Miss Maine Scholarship Pageant to be held at Crooker Theatre. Single and never married women from Maine who are high school graduates, age 17 to 24, United States citizens and full-time students or full-time employees in the state can apply.

The sign-up activities will be held at the Central Maine Community College’s Kirk Hall Auditorium. Contestants will be asked to provide a short talent presentation and will participate in a mock interview.

They will get immediate written and verbal feedback from the judges to prepare them for the pageant. Mentors will be available to all contestants to help guide them through the pageant process.

The Miss Maine Scholarship Pageant awarded more than $25,000 in scholarships in 2007. It is the official state preliminary to Miss America. The Miss Maine Program is a not-for-profit, all-volunteer program.
