Church service
FARMINGTON – “Standing on the Promises” is the title of Pastor Susan Crane’s message for Sunday, Aug. 12. Worship will begin at 9:30 a.m. Bruce and Pat Hodgkins will be in town from Florida to offer special music. Everyone is welcome to the service, celebrating the church history and looking forward to the future God is planning.
Savage reunion
AVON – Descendants of Benjamin F. Savage and Nettie Dodge Savage of Avon will hold their 10th reunion at the Avon Town Hall (Lindbergh Airport) at 10 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 19. Open houses
FARMINGTON – The Farmington Children’s School will host a series of open houses next week: from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16; from 10 a.m. to noon Friday, Aug. 17; and from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 18.
The open houses will be held in the school’s new annex to the Old South Church on Main Street.
The school is a nonprofit, Montessori inspired school serving students in grades kindergarten through six.
Bryant reunion
CANTON – The Bryant family reunion was held at the home of Norman and Millie Vashaw on Aug. 5 with 44 present. Games of horseshoes, badminton and golf were played. The children had an Easter egg hunt and balloon games.
Gifts were given to the oldest, Wilma Richards, 102; the youngest, Isaiah Child, 5 months; and the first to arrive, Kevin and Judy Simpson. A potluck dinner was held at noon.
The next reunion is planned for the first Sunday in August 2008 at the Vashaw home.
Guests at the Vashaw home over the weekend to attend the reunion were their son and wife, Allen and Myong Vashaw of Wichita, Kan.; cousin, Guy Ames, Lakeland, Fla.; and cousin, Phil Ames, La Mesa, Calif.
