KEENE, N.H. (AP) – The driver of a dry-cleaners van that collided with a car in January, killing that driver, turned himself in to authorities Monday for failing to appear in court to answer charges stemming from the accident.

Henri Pletzner, 34, of Winchester, was indicted on July 23 by a Cheshire County grand jury on one count of negligent homicide and one count of reckless conduct, both of which are felonies and carry a sentence of up to seven years in prison. Pletzner failed to appear at his arraignment on Aug. 1.

On Monday, Pletzner was released on $20,000 bail and ordered to check in with Swanzey police on a daily basis.

No trial date has been scheduled yet.

State Police said that on Jan. 6, a Sterling Quality Cleaners van was traveling southbound on Route 10 in Swanzey when it struck a northbound car. The driver of the car, Kathleen Barrett, 47, of Swanzey, was critically injured and later died at a hospital. Pletzner suffered minor injuries.
