LEWISTON – A man stabbed in the throat inside a Howard Street apartment Wednesday night was still being evaluated hours later.

The man, described as in his 20s, was gashed at about 9:30 p.m. by another man who was being sought late Wednesday.

Police investigating the knifing said they had not yet determined what led up to the stabbing. A detective was called to the scene and investigators were trying to sort through conflicting stories told by those involved.

The wound did not appear to be life-threatening. The victim was taken to Central Maine Medical Center. His identity was not immediately available.
