Dear Sun Spots: Pleasant memories, now almost seven decades old come back to me as I read your offering regarding that child’s prayer beginning “Now I lay me down to sleep.” Most of my childhood friends were taught the version: Now I lay me down to sleep. I pray the Lord for my dear sake that if I should die before I awake, He will my soul take.” My father taught me a different version.
“Now I lay me down to sleep. I pray the Lord my soul to keep. When in the morning light I awake, help me the path of love to take.”
I look forward to reading Sun Spots. It is unique and useful. In addition to my pastoral responsibilities I also teach classes at university college centers at Bath/Brunswick and Rumford/Mexico. One of my many promising students passed this enclosure on to me. Might you agree that your Sun Spots readers might find it useful? On the subject of cell phones:
Locked your keys in your car? Did you know this?
If you lock your keys in the car and the spare keys are at home, call someone on your (or someone else’s cell phone). Hold your cell phone about a foot from your car door and have the other person at your home press the unlock button of your key FOB (clicker), holding it near the phone on their end. Your car doors will unlock. Saves someone from having to drive your keys to you. Distance is no object. You could be hundreds of miles away, and if you can reach someone who has the other remote for your car, you can unlock the doors or trunk. Blessings. – Lawrence E. Merckens, Pastor, Vassalboro.
Answer: Many thanks to Pastor Merckens for sharing these tips with readers. Sun Spots would encourage readers to try this out long before having to need to. Do a test run with family members before you encounter such an emergency to see if it’ll work. Readers should also be aware that an article posted online which notes there is no truth to this tip. See for yourselves, www.snopes.com/autos/techno/keyless.asp.
