DIXFIELD – The SAD 21 board this week appointed Dixfield Elementary School Principal Kathy Richard to be interim principal at Peru Elementary School, according to minutes of Monday’s meeting.

She will receive a $10,000 stipend. A new Peru school to serve all elementary pupils in the district will be completed next year.

Richard succeeds Brenda Gammon, who left to be director of the Region 9 School of Applied Technology.

Crystal Duguay was appointed interim head teacher to be in charge when Richard is out of the building. She will receive a $5,000 stipend.

Other appointments were educational technician Karen Thurston to a grade five teaching position at Dixfield Elementary School and Jessica Swan as the new social worker for the high school and for K-12 special education students. Previously, SAD 43 and SAD 21 had shared a social worker.
