Jesus Party invites youth to attend ice cream social
LEWISTON – The Jesus Party will hold a Back To School social on Friday, Aug. 31, beginning at 6 p.m. at 291 Bates St.
Ice cream sundaes, with all the fixings, will be served and school supplies will be given to all children attending. Erasers with a life lesson message, “When you make a mistake in line, and you will, start over and try again,” will be happily presented by volunteer staff.
New events being offered by the urban youth outreach, nonprofit faith-based inner city children’s ministry include two weekly worship services. Ministry directors are the Rev. Doug and Sonia Taylor.
Session 1 will be held on Fridays, at 6 p.m., throughout the school year and will be focus on Back to Bible Basics 101. Rev. Doug Taylor will discuss an old book with a new outlook. New Testament teachings will be illustrated through the Visual Bible for Kids video series as well as a flannel graph presentation covering the Book of Matthew through the Book of Revelation. Live music will be provided by the Glory Bound singers and lots of prizes, popcorn and punch will be given out.
Sister Sonia Taylor will host Session 2 Saturday mornings at 10 a.m., the focus will be on “Oldies but Goodies.” Old Testament teachings will be illustrated through an exciting Bibleman Video curriculum and flannel graph presentation of the great Patriarchs of the Bible.
Children will enjoy a karaoke style of worship with words projected on big screen and lots of audience participation. Donuts and chocolate milk will be served and a door prize will be presented weekly.
