KINGFIELD – Mervin Wilson was appointed to serve as the town’s citizen representative to the School Regionalization Planning Committee during Monday’s selectmen’s meeting.
Alternates are Jack McKee and Wendall Gilmore, said Administrative Assistant Greg Davis on Tuesday.
Elected as representative at the last meeting, he said, is Neal McCurdy, with Davis serving as alternate.
The board also appointed two alternates for the Appeals Board, Davis said. Mark Lopez will serve the remainder of Jack McKee’s position, due to be completed in 2008. McKee was recently appointed as a regular member of the Appeals Board, he said. Tom Sinitski is the second alternate and will serve until 2012.
Selectmen were required to re-sign the tax commitment after Assessor Heather Moody reported an error on some homestead exemptions that were missed.
“The corrections change the total commitment by approximately $2,000,” Davis said, “but this will will not alter the 11.5 mill rate, down from 14.2 last year.”
The board set the rate in July and tax bills have been issued, he said. A few have been re-issued to reflect the homestead exemptions, he said.
With both SAD 9 and SAD 58 boards voting for consolidation with Coplin Plantation as a partner, Davis told the board the school consolidation issue is progressing with regional planning meetings to be announced as scheduled, he said.
Other meetings, he said, included a public presentation on tax increment financing scheduled for 1 p.m. today at Forster Memorial Building in Strong. A discussion on wind energy projects sponsored by the Western Maine Legislative Caucus will be held at 7 a.m. Friday at the University of Maine at Farmington’s Olsen Student Center.
Kingfield, he said, will host the second meeting of the Woods and Waters Group at 3 p.m. Aug. 28 at Webster Hall. The northern Franklin County mapping project steering committee, he said, meets to oversee the development of a mapping and resource project that will include a public survey.
