POLAND – Seventy people attended the annual Polland family reunion on Aug. 12 at Range Pond State Park. There was barbecuing, camping, water sports and card games.
Braydon Giacomuzzi, at 9 months, was the youngest, and Kenneth Hodsdon of Portage Lake was the eldest and the family member who traveled the farthest. Several overnight stays with close relatives lengthened reunions of families separated by the miles.
New births recorded this year were great-great-grandchildren of Methyl Polland Morse, Claire Juliet Thompson, whose parents are Joanna and Jason Thompson of Portland, Ore.; Braydon Alan Giacomuzzi, whose parents are Jeffrey and Kimberly Giacomuzzi of Gardiner; Sheylan Marley Marton, great-great-granddaughter of Jenny Polland Arsenault, whose parents are Nicole Foley and Michael Marton of Attleboro, Mass.; and Justin Joseph Sprague II, great-great-grandson of Elva Polland Hodsdon, whose parents are Catherine and Austin Sprague of Portland.
The deaths of Thelma Polland, Jessica Hodsdon and Russell Oldham were remembered with a moment of silence.
Kathleen Ceppetelli of Broad Brook, Conn., was voted to continue as president, and Cynthia Pettengill of Wayne will continue as secretary/treasurer for another year. Pettengill acknowledged the work being done by John Hall and asked that she and Hall be recognized.
Next year’s reunion will be held on Sunday, Aug. 10, at Range Pond State Park where family members will be recognized by wearing their color: Arsenault, gray; Morse, white; Hodsdon, purple; Carleton, green; and Polland, blue.
