AUBURN – Mechanics Savings Bank has announced its 2007 scholarship recipients from St. Dominic Regional High School.

Logan Paul Rudemiller is the son of Gary and Doris Rudemiller of Auburn. He was among the top 10 students in his graduating class at St. Dominic, where he was active in music ministry. Rudemiller served as a volunteer at Pathways Early Learning Center and performed at the Habitat for Humanity benefit concert.

Rudemiller earned the 2007 Louisiana State University freshman merit award. He plans to attend Louisiana State University to major in psychology.

Kathrin Octavia Gallick is the daughter of David and Linda Gallick of Auburn. She served on the St. Dominic Student Senate and the Key Club board of directors for four years. She was a member of the National Honor Society, the National Honor Roll and the girls’ varsity soccer and ice hockey teams.

Gallick is a recipient of the Bishop Cote Award, the Maine Youth Leadership Award/Ambassador and the University of Rochester’s Bausch and Lomb Honorary Science Award. Gallick plans to major in biology at the University of Florida in Gainesville.

Amanda Dawn Nguyen is the daughter of Susan and Thanh Nguyen of Winthrop. She was a St. Dominic Top 10 Scholar, president of the National Honor Society and a member of the math and the junior varsity field hockey teams.

Nguyen received the Harvard Book Award, the Bishop Cote Award and an honorable mention in the 2005-2006 U.S. Institute of Peace National Essay Contest. She was named the 2005 Modern Woodmen of America Youth Service Groups’ Junior Volunteer of the Year. Nguyen plans to attend Bowdoin College where she will major in math/science.

For more than 20 years, Mechanics Savings Bank has provided scholarships to assist high school graduates with their higher education tuitions and fees. This year, the bank’s scholarship donations to local and area high schools totaled $19,500.
