RAYMOND – An early morning fight brought officers from two police departments to an Italian restaurant Thursday.

According to Chief Deputy Kevin Joyce of the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, Lance Higgins, 21, and Bruce Carey, 20, both of Standish, were arrested after being involved in a confrontation at Montebello Italian Restaurant.

Higgins was charged with disorderly conduct, and Carey was charged with failure to disperse.

Lt. David DeGruchi of the Windham Police Department said Jeffrey Morse, 24, of Raymond was arrested on violation of bail conditions.

In addition, two individuals, ages 19 and 20, were issued summonses for possession of alcohol by a minor.

Joyce said he was unsure what provoked the fight, and did not believe either man suffered serious injuries.

Joyce said five deputies from the Sheriff’s Office were assisted by the Windham Police Department.

The incident took place shortly before 1:15 a.m.

According to the Montebello Web site, the restaurant closes for dinner at 9:30 p.m. Thursdays, but a bar and lounge are open until 1 a.m. The scheduled event for the night was Lake Region Idol, a karaoke competition with a $300 prize.

Joyce said police had been summoned to the establishment before, but not for incidents such as this one.

“I definitely wouldn’t say at this time that it’s a problematic bar restaurant,” he said.
