WILTON – A New Hampshire couple were in stable condition Monday night after their motorcycle and a car collided on Routes 2 and 4 in East Wilton.
Christopher Canney, 51, of North Conway, N.H., and his wife, Joanne, 51, were injured when their 2006 Harley-Davidson struck the left rear passenger door of a car driven by Ashley Bartsch-Smith, 23, of Dryden, police said. The accident happened shortly after 1:30 p.m. as Bartsch-Smith was traveling east on Route 2 as she attempted to make a left turn onto Cemetery Road.
The Canneys were taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. Both were listed in stable condition at 9 p.m. Monday, a nursing supervisor said.
Neither Bartsch-Smith nor her passengers, Nicholas Shanke, 29, also of Dryden, and three minor children were hurt, police said.
Damage to the motorcycle was estimated at between $4,000 and $5,000 and to the 1991 Plymouth Acclaim at $2,000, police Officer Blaine Rackliff said.
Police Chief Dennis Brown was in charge of the investigation and was helped by officers from Farmington Police Department and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department.
