DURHAM – A 29-year-old Lewiston man, Sidi Mohamed of 17 Rideout Ave., was injured and his van heavily damaged in a crash on Route 136 Tuesday afternoon.

Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Deputy Nathan McNally said Mohamed was driving south behind two vehicles when he pulled out to pass. At the same time a blue minivan in front of him pulled out to pass. Mohamed overcorrected and his van veered to the left across the highway striking a tree, spun around and landed on its side.

Mohamed complained of chest pain and was taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston by Durham Fire and Rescue.

Damage to his 1996 Dodge Caravan was estimated at $4,000 in the 2:30 p.m. crash.

Deputy Randy Williams assisted at the scene.
