AUBURN – The Maine Chapter of the Northeast Belly Dance Association will hold its first-ever hafli, a belly-dance party, from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9, at the First Universalist Church.

Featured will be dancers from all over the state and beyond including The Cumaen Sybil of Portland, Indigo of Hartford, Paradigm East of Bangor and Lily Moonstorm of New Hampshire.

Authentic Middle Eastern music will be provided by Steven “Drum” and Lisa Kouyoumjian, hosts of the annual Maine Belly Dance Festival. There will be food and open dancing as well as the opportunity to learn Bhangra, the high-energy dance of India.

Admission is $5, plus a nonperishable food item; free for NBDA members and children under 12. Food donations will go to the Androscoggin Head Start and Child Care Closet.
