Béla Fleck and the Flecktones, a multi-Grammy winning, primarily instrumental group, will perform Saturday, Sept. 1, at L.L. Bean’s Discovery Park in Freeport. Together, Béla Fleck, Victor Wooten, Future Man and Jeff Coffin blend bluegrass, fusion and jazz. In 1988, the band formed initially to perform once on the PBS series “Lonesome Pine Specials.” Since then, the Flecktones have toured extensively, often playing more than 200 concerts per year. They won Grammy awards for Best Contemporary Jazz Album for “Outbound” and “The Hidden Land” in 2001 and 2007, respectively. The free, outdoor concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. Bring a lawn chair.
