HARBOR SPRINGS, Mich. – Harold Edison Ricker, 80, of Grosse Ile, Mich., passed away Aug. 30, at the home of his stepson in Harbor Springs, Mich.

He was born in Stratton, on Feb. 12, 1927, to Harold T. and Florence (Fletcher) Ricker. He grew up in Maine and after high school he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served for 20 years. He earned the rank of chief petty officer. He served as an air traffic controller in the Navy and continued as an air traffic controller at Detroit Metro Airport after his discharge. He worked as a postal carrier on Grosse Ile for many years.

He is survived by his stepson, Jim Cooper, and his wife, Mary, of Harbor Springs, Mich.; a stepdaughter, Barbara Steele of Virginia; a brother, John Ricker of Stratton; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife, Jenny. The family was assisted by the Schiller Funeral Home of Harbor Springs, Mich.
