TURNER – Gallery Two at the Turner Center for the Arts, 98 Matthews Way, is exhibiting a group of paintings, etchings and drawings by Maine artist Helen Warren. Titled “Sanctuaries,” the exhibit chronicles a spiritual and healing journey of the past 15 years.

The artwork ranges from large hanging scrolls and paintings to more intimate drawings and etchings. The focal point is a recently completed group of five paintings hanging 18 feet high vertically, titled “Women with Wings; the Grief Series.”

The exhibit will be on display through Sept. 29. Regular gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday through Saturday.

Warren’s studio, the Creative Spiral Studio and Gallery, is in Yarmouth. Her work has been exhibited throughout New England, as well as in western New York.

The artist’s graduate studies included research on the psychology and philosophy of the creative process, as well as the spiritual and metaphysical aspects.

“During my healing journey with post traumatic stress disorder and more recently with breast cancer, I have found my creative process to be a sacred container for physical, emotional and spiritual clearing,” Warren said. “Providing time to listen within, embrace what is present and allow its energy to flow onto the page or canvas, visual image-making lets my mind relax so that my authentic self, my soul can speak.”
