I have read several articles in the Sun Journal dealing with school consolidation. The conclusion is always that it would cost a great deal of money.
If a combined school district educates the same number of students with similar educational experiences, how can that cost more? There may be no savings, but it staggers the imagination that it could cost more. Unless, of course, redundant personnel are kept on the payroll unnecessarily.
Whatever the cause, the Sun Journal should explain the situation in depth. If it is a question of keeping unnecessary personnel on the payroll, or buying out existing contracts, such a policy may be fair, but one that deserves a detailed explanation.
