Dear Sun Spots: We are seeking a host family for a foreign exchange student from Germany. He is a 16-year-old and will be attending Edward Little High School for this upcoming school year.

To anyone who has never hosted a foreign exchange student, this is a wonderful opportunity for you and your family. Students are treated like your own children. They participate in family events, follow your family’s rules, chores and privileges. The host family provides a separate bed and a quiet place to study, daily meals with the family, some local transportation.

What do you and your family get in return? It’s a chance for your family to experience other cultures while teaching about your American culture and history. Exploring differences, discovering similarities and helping teach your new student about your American values and beliefs. You, your family and the students will get to experience cultural diversity, world peace and a heightened awareness of the world around us.

Students participating in the program are academically strong students talented in music, art, dance, sports, computers and more. They are also proficient in English. They are instructed to bring adequate spending money and are fully insured during their stay.

Edward Little High School has been participating in this nonprofit, government program since 1985. About 5,000 students have benefited from this program and over 50 countries have been represented.

Dear Sun Spots: It is Tuesday, Sept. 4, and I really need a computer as I am disabled. I am renting one and can no longer afford it. The person who listed one today had no number or way to reach them. Can you help me? I can be reached at 645-3066. – Ruthann LeBlanc, No Town.

Dear Sun Spots: Many months ago you had the address and phone numbers for places that could use trophies, golf, tennis and more for recycling. I thought I saved the article since I knew one day my husband would part with his many, many golf trophies. Would you mind running the names again. Thank you. – Bea Loux, Casco.

Answer:
Contact John F. Murphy Homes, 1512 Minot Ave., Auburn, 782-1780 (ask for Dan).

Dear Sun Spots: Could you please tell me why GAC shows so many repeat performances of the Grand Old Opry? They perform live every Saturday night. I would appreciate any information you can find out. We read your column every day. Thank You. – No Name, No Town.

Answer:
According to www.gactv.com, the Opry does not broadcast a live television show every weekend on GAC at present. On Saturday nights when a live broadcast is not planned, the Opry chooses a recently aired show for GAC viewers. Typically, those shows air every other week at this time (schedule subject to change). To check their listings, log onto www.gactv.com.
