WALES – An Arkansas man was seriously injured Monday night while riding a personal watercraft on Sabattus Lake.
Donald W. Bramlett Jr., 46, of Cave City, Ark., hit a tree that had fallen into the lake and struck another tree when he was thrown onto the shore, Maine Warden Service spokesman Mark Latti said Tuesday.

Bramlett was riding his 1997 Kawasaki about 20 feet from the shore between 7:45 and 8 p.m. when the crash happened.

“It appears he was unfamiliar with the lake,” Latti said.
Bramlett was taken by ambulance to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, where he was being treated for serious head injuries, Latti said.
Bramlett was listed in critical condition, according to a nursing supervisor at the hospital.
