LEWISTON – Diane McManus, regional vice president/senior market manager, and Ray Teixeira, vice president/market manager of Camden National Bank, presented a $1,000 gift to the Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice Hospice House.

The grant will be used to support hospice family support services at the Hospice House in Auburn.

Hospice family support services – chaplain, bereavement and volunteer services – are critical elements of the agency’s comprehensive hospice program. While a required element of hospice programs, health insurers do not pay for the services. They are dependent upon community support.

“In our shared service area of Central and Western Maine, Camden National Bank and AHCH serve many of the same clients,” said Shackley. “We recognize the bank receives numerous requests for support and they select those areas or programs where they feel they can make the most impact. We are very fortunate to have businesses like Camden National Bank who recognize the value that hospice family support services bring to our patients, their families and the community.”

Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice provides hospice care to more than 1,000 people each year at home, in nursing facilities and at the Hospice House. That number is continuing to grow. This year, the agency anticipates caring for 500 patients at the Hospice House. It has more than 200 trained hospice volunteers providing support to patients and bereavement services to family members.
