Yard sale
LEWISTON – A yard sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at SeniorsPlus in the Fairgrounds Business Complex, 8 Falcon Road. There will be a large variety of items.
This is an annual fundraiser to support the Alzheimer’s Association Maine Chapter Memory Walk. All proceeds will be given directly to the Alzheimer’s Association and will remain in Maine to help approximately 30,000 individuals with Alzheimer’s disease in this state, their families and caregivers.

Sodality to meet
LEWISTON – The Rosary Sodality of St. Patrick’s Church will meet on Tuesday, Sept. 11. Recitation of the Rosary will take place in the chapel at 6:30 p.m. Installation of new officers will follow. The first meeting for the year 2007-2008 will be conducted by newly selected Prefect Anne Elizabeth Clabby. Refreshments will be served.
Chapter Martel
LEWISTON – Chapter Martel, Association Canado Americaine, will meet at 1:15 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10, at the Frye School Hall, 140 Ash St. A meal will be held at noon at the Mandarin Restaurant for those who wish to attend.
President Cecile Paradis invites all members to attend the first meeting of the season. Plans will be made for future activities.
OES session
MECHANIC FALLS – Dwinal Chapter 28, Order of the Eastern Star, will meet at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12, at the Masonic Hall, 474 South Main St., when the chapter will observe ESTARL Night. A supper will precede the meeting at 6:30. All members of the order are invited.
Thomas visit
JAY – A representative from Thomas College will visit the following schools:
Jay High School at 8 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12.
Leavitt Area High School in Turner at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12.
The representative will meet with students to discuss Thomas’ academic and sports programs and its residential life opportunities.

Canine clinics
SABATTUS – As its part in the National Responsible Pet Owner’s Day on Saturday, Sept. 15, the Lewiston-Auburn Kennel Club will hold three canine health clinics open for all breeds, “Eyes, Heart and Rabies,” at the Sabattus Town Hall.
Dr. Ruth Marrion, ophthalmologist, of North Andover, Mass., will present a session on eyes at 10 a.m.
Dr. John MacGregor, cardiologist, of Nashua, N.H., will present a session at 9 a.m., and Dr. John of Cumberland will hold a rabies clinic from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Line dancing
LEWISTON – The Lewiston Senior Citizens will starting new line dancing classes with instructor Rina Cloutier on Monday, Sept. 17. Intermediates will be from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and beginners from 1 to 2 p.m. Mondays except on general monthly meeting days the first Monday of the month.

SAD 52 quilting
TURNER – SAD 52 Adult and Community Education of Greene, Leeds and Turner is again offering “Quilt Addiction” from Sept. 18 through Nov. 20.

Swingin’ Bears
PARIS – The Swingin’ Bears Square Dance Club will offer classes for new people and review for club members beginning at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, at the Oxford Hills Middle School in South Paris. The first lesson for beginners is free.
Lessons will continue every Wednesday except during school vacations. The classes are part of Oxford Hills Adult Education and Recreation Program.
