RUMFORD – The Pennacook Art Center will present two exhibits this weekend, starting with a new display at the gallery on Congress Street, then with a show in Andover.

Art Center board President Shannon Couture said September’s theme at the gallery is flowers – dried creations, along with oils, acrylics, watercolors, pastels and other media.

The exhibit begins at noon Friday, followed by a reception from 5 to 8 p.m.

The gallery is open from noon until 5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday.

The Art Center is also hosting a show of local and emerging artists at the Andover Town Hall in conjunction with the Best of America by Horseback event.

Art work will be on display from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday.

Both exhibits are free to the public.

Couture said the Congress Street gallery is also planning two new shows in October and November.

For October, the theme will be autumn harvest and will focus on food. In November, Oxford Hills artist Pat Chandler will exhibit abstracts and portraits. She will also present a talk on abstract art.

Volunteers are needed to staff the gallery during its regular hours.
