CASCO – A 74-year-old Denmark man was killed Thursday morning when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a pickup truck on Route 302.
The accident occurred shortly before 8:30 a.m. at the intersection with Point Sebago Road. According to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, Arnold Dugmore was riding a 2002 Honda motorcycle east on Route 302 when Clarence Hanscom, 45, of Pownal pulled in front of him from Point Sebago Road.
Dugmore tried unsuccessfully to avoid the 2004 GMC pickup and collided with the front right corner of the vehicle. He was transported by Casco Rescue to Maine Medical Center in Portland, where he was pronounced dead.
Hanscom was not hurt. According to the sheriff’s office, he did not see the motorcycle when he was making a left-hand turn.
Dugmore was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The accident remains under investigation.
