KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) – Roger Clemens could return to the mound for the New York Yankees in their series finale at Boston on Sept. 16.

Clemens left Monday’s start against Seattle after four innings and had a cortisone shot in his right elbow two days later. The seven-time Cy Young Award winner is 6-6 with a 4.45 ERA this season.

“I am sort of looking at the weekend in Boston as probably his next start,” Yankees manager Joe Torre said before Friday’s series opener against Kansas City. “But again, it all depends how he feels.”

Torre said Clemens will meet up with the Yankees next week in Toronto.

Mike Mussina, dropped from the starting rotation last week, was scheduled to start Wednesday at Toronto, between rookies Phil Hughes and Ian Kennedy. Andy Pettitte and Chien-Ming Wang are slated to start the first two games of the series at Fenway Park.
