“We are all sort of grieving. We feel like we’re sending our kids off to college,” said Ellen Gilliam before she, Bernadette Boisvert and Cindy Larock released six monarch butterflies into Kennedy Park in Lewiston. They had raised the butterflies from larva at the Lewiston Public Library as part of a science program. The monarchs were all tagged so that if found, the information about their whereabouts can be reported to the University of Kansas via a 1-800 number.
