LEWISTON – A panel presentation on immigration in Lewiston will be given at Bates College on Monday, Sept. 10.
The talk, open to the public, will take place from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Room 201 of the Edmund Muskie Archives.
Heather Lindkvist, who teaches anthropology at Bates, will give a brief presentation on immigration history. Panelists will talk about what local immigrant organizations are doing and the problems they’re facing.
In addition to Lindkvist, panel members will include Ismail Ahmed of Catholic Charities of Maine; Fatuma Hussein of the United Somali Women of Maine; Kim Wettlaufer and Gure Ali of the Trinity Jubilee Center; Anne Kemper of Lewiston Adult Education; Cara Gaumont of the Center for the Prevention of Hate Violence; and Ibrahim Bashir of the Somali Bantu Organization.
