LEWISTON – Blood pressure screenings will be administered by Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice from 10 to 11 a.m. Fridays at Bedard Pharmacy and 1 to 2 p.m. Fridays at Bedard Medical through September.
The public is invited to participate in the free screenings; appointments are not necessary.
Club Richelieu
AUBURN – The local chapter of Club Richelieu International will renew its seasonal activities at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12, at Rolandeau’s Restaurant, 775 Washington Road. The meal will be served at 6:30 p.m. followed by a meeting of the French Cultural Sorority-Fraternity Society. President Daniel Isabel will reveal his plans for activities of the 2007-2008 season. Members and their guests are invited.
Grange planning
AUBURN – Members of Danville Junction Grange will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, at the hall for a planning meeting for the year. Refreshments will be served at the close of the meeting. All members and guests are welcome.
Club election
SABATTUS – The members of the Jacques Cartier Club, Wales Road, are reminded that Friday, Sept. 14, at 7 p.m. the monthly meeting will be held with election of executive officers and directors. All current members are encouraged to attend.
Forum speaker
LEWISTON – The Holy Cross Seniors are inviting everyone 50 years and over to attend a meeting at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, in the church hall.
The Rev. Daniel Greenleaf will be the featured speaker. In an open forum allowing everyone the opportunity to share ideas and ask questions, he will discuss the changes happening in the region regarding the formation of the cluster and the consolidation of parishes.
Time to socialize and a light lunch will be provided following the presentation.

LEEDS – The 37th annual meeting of the Rural Community Action Ministry is scheduled for 6:45 p.m. Monday, Sept. 17, at the office, 81 Church Hill Road. Open house
NEW GLOUCESTER – The New Gloucester Historical Society will hold an open house at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, at the New Gloucester Meetinghouse next to the Town Hall on Route 231.
Treasures from the society’s collections will be on display showing “people, places and things” that have made New Gloucester famous throughout the state. Refreshments will be served. A business meeting will be held following the open house.
The society will hold its annual apple pie sale on Saturday, Sept. 22, beginning at 10 a.m. at the Sabbathday Lake Shaker Museum Reception Center, Route 26. The pies cost $7 each. To place an order, call Coky Wills at 926-4351 or Avis Ford at 926-4561.
Quilt exhibit
DURHAM – To help pay for restoration of the Old Town Hall Building (formerly the Union Church), the Durham Historical Society is sponsoring a 19th and 20th century Maine quilt exhibit from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29.
The Old Town Hall, which was built in 1835, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The public is invited to join the Historical Society at the site, 144 Royalsborough Road (Route 136).
Those wishing may bring quilts to display. There will be a book and food sale. For more information, call 353-6250.
Bridge winners
LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Duplicate Bridge Club met on Sept. 4 at the Multi-Purpose Center. Winners in Fight A were: first, Peter Cummings and Richard Balian; second, Linda Leotsakos and Janet Arey; third, Jim Flanagan and David Lock; fourth, Shirley West and Jean Jangraw; fifth, Fred Letourneau and Martine Begert.
Flight B winners were Peter Cummings and Richard Balian. Another game will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11 at the center. There will be a regular game at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12, at Schooner Estates in Auburn. On Sept. 19 at 6:30 p.m., an ACBL Instant Matchpoint game will be held at Schooner Estates in Auburn. North/South and East/West first-place winners will be awarded gold points. All other winners will be awarded red/black points.
