AUBURN – A host family for a foreign exchange student from Germany, who is attending Edward Little High School, is needed. The student is a 16-year-old and will be ELHS for the upcoming school year.
Exchange students participate in family events, follow family rules and do chores. The host family provides a separate bed and a quiet place to study, daily meals and some local transportation.
It’s a chance for a family to experience other cultures while teaching about American culture and history. The family and the students experience cultural diversity, world peace and a heightened awareness of the world.
Students participating in the program are academically strong, talented in music, art, dance, sports and computers. They are also proficient in English. They are instructed to bring adequate spending money and are insured during their stay.
Edward Little High School has been participating in the nonprofit, government program since 1985. About 5,000 students have benefited from the program and more than 50 countries have been represented.
