FARMINGTON – The Franklin County Soil and Water Conservation District has announced the receipt of a $3,000 grant from the Western Mountains Fund of the Maine Community Foundation to support its 17th annual Agricultural/Environmental Education Day (Ag Day).
Ag Day will be held on Monday, Sept. 17, at the Farmington Fairgrounds where the district’s employees will host kindergarten through fourth-grader from all over Franklin County and from some of the schools in surrounding counties.
The Maine Community Foundation Grant will pay for the newly compiled district activity booklets and will partially support the coordination of Ag Day program.
More than 1,000 students, teachers, and chaperones have registered to attend Ag Day this year.
Many stations will be lined up to help educate students about agriculture and the wise use of natural resources.
