RANGELEY – An owner of a diner reported Tuesday that an overnight deposit bag containing an undisclosed amount of money was taken from the eatery during the night Monday, police Chief Phil Weymouth said.
The means of entry into Bald Mountain Camp Diner on Richardson Street, which is owned by former Selectman Stephen Philbrick, wasn’t clear, Weymouth said.
There was no sign of forced entry, he added.
Staff noticed a couple of fans knocked over but the screens were in place, he said.
The night deposit bag was taken but the change bag was left behind, Weymouth said.
In an unrelated matter, police charged two juveniles after investigating two motor vehicle burglaries and a residential burglary.
A 15-year-old Rangeley boy was charged with burglary, theft and receiving stolen property and a 17-year-old Dallas Plantation boy was charged with burglary and receiving stolen property, Weymouth said.
The incidents occurred between Aug. 25 and Sept. 5.
In the two motor vehicle burglaries, an iPod, compact discs and a CD player were taken. Money was stolen from the residence, Weymouth said.
The boys have juvenile court dates in Farmington this fall.
