Installation set

SUMNER – An installation service for the Rev. Nancy J. Miaoulis will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, at the Congregational Church of East Sumner followed by a dinner. For more information, contact Cynthia Norton at 388-2667.

Society speaker

PARIS – The Paris Cape Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, at the museum, 77 High St. The speaker will be Stuart Goodwin, who will talk on the shoe shops that used to be in the area. Refreshments will be served. The public is welcome.

Tai chi class

BETHEL – The ancient movement art of tai chi will be taught through the Goose Eye Institute. The beginner classes will start Wednesday, Sept. 26, at 10 to 11a.m. and 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Betsey Foster, MPH, will teach the classes. She has studied tai chi since 1988 and taught since 1993. The morning class will be held at Ellie’s Express and the evening class at the Bethel Health Center.

Fall Fest

HARRISON – Fall Fest at Scribner’s Mill and Harrison Historical Society’s Carlson Homestead will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Columbus Day, Monday, Oct. 8. It will feature wood stove cooking, cider pressing, corn grinding and an apple pie judging contest. Cost is $5 for adults, and proceeds will benefit the restoration and maintenance of both sites. Computer class

BRIDGTON – The Bridgton Community Center will hold a basic computer skills class that will teach the skills needed to write a letter, e-mail or get on the Internet. The class size is limited to six. It will be a six-week, two-hour a week schedule.

The class fee is $40 and the classes will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. The next class will run from Oct. 9 through Nov. 15.
