BREWER – Chantal Wood scored both goals for Lewiston as it celebrated its first win since 2005 with a 2-0 shutout over Brewer in KVAC field hockey action Wednesday.
Wood scored in the first half with an assist from Kristen D’Eramo, then took a pass from Erin Glann in the second half to provide the insurance marker.
Emily Craig stopped four shots in goals for the Blue Devils (1-3). Lewiston outshot Brewer (0-4) by a margin of 24-4.
Gardiner 3, Edward Little 1
GARDINER – Kristyn Seymour registered a goal and was credited with an assist as Gardiner topped Edward Little 3-1 in a KVAC field hockey match-up Wednesday.
Seymour tallied the first goal for the Tigers (4-0) in the first half, with Ashley Work netting an unassisted goal as well. Becca Paradee was the only goal scorer in the second half.
Katie Williamson scored the only goal for the Eddies (3-1-1) on a breakaway after taking a pass up the middle from Karen Leary. Goaltender Kayla Cummings turned aside 14 shots.
Jay 3, Dirigo 0
DIXFIELD – Shayna Meserve netted a pair of goals to lead Jay to a 3-0 victory over Dirigo in an MVC matchup Wednesday.
Bryndi Richards also tallied for the Tigers. Brenda Allen needed only three save to preserve the shutout.
Courtney Knox turned aside 14 shots for the Cougars (1-3).
Telstar 5, Hall-Dale 0
BETHEL – Whitney Mills scored twice in the first half to send Telstar to a 5-0 triumph over Hall-Dale in MVC field hockey Wednesday.
Bailey Davis, Josie Reiss and Chelsea Bean (two assists) added goals in the second half for the Rebels (5-0). Brianna Douglass only needed to stop one shot for the shutout. Alyssa Withee stopped 12 shots for Hall-Dale (2-2).
Livermore Falls 1, Mtn. Valley 0
LIVERMORE FALLS – Megan Therrien picked up a feed from wing Chelsea Bilodeau to score the game’s only goal to lift Livermore Falls to a 1-0 triumph over Mountain Valley.
Eight minutes into the second half, Bilodeau crossed the ball in front of the net to Therrien, who deflected it into the back of the cage for the Andies (2-3). Caylee Morris turned away five shots for the shutout.
While Mountain Valley (1-4) led in penalty corners, 9-4, they couldn’t capitalize on those opportunities.
Cape Elizabeth 1, Gray-NG 0
GRAY – With six minutes remaining in the contest, Claire Jackson picked up the ball after a scramble in front of the net and shot it in to give Cape Elizabeth the 1-0 win over Gray/New Gloucester.
Lisbon 5, Georges Valley 1
THOMASTON – Amanda Stevens netted a pair of goals to pace Lisbon to a 5-1 victory over Georges Valley.
Krystal Robichaud, Kayla Michaud and Morgan Hatherly also tallied for the Greyhounds (4-1). Monica Lakin was not tested in net, recording no saves for the win.
The Buccaneers (0-5) received their lone goal from Emma Vachon, while Kayla Prior made 20 saves.
Soccer
Georges Valley 9, Liv. Falls/Jay 0
LIVERMORE FALLS – Margaret Hoyt netted a hat trick and was credited with an assist, while Desiaree Smith had a pair of goals and two assists to lead Georges Valley to a 9-0 triumph over the Livermore Falls/Jay girls’ soccer team.
Hannah Yovino, Danielle Frye, Alyssa McCorrison, and Brittney Worcester also scored for the Buccaneers (4-0), who outshot the Wildcats 25-2.
Net-minding duties were split between two keepers for the Wild Cats (0-3), with Katie Beaulieu making 12 saves and Celeste Michaud stopped four shots.
Poland 1, St. Dom’s 0
POLAND – Danielle Belanger picked up a through pass from Jen Baril from the left hand side and fired a shot that slipped past the far post to give Poland the 1-0 girls’ soccer victory over St. Dom’s.
Paige Piper made five saves to preserve the shutout for the Knights (1-21). Elise Applegate stopped seven shots for the Saints (1-3).
Rockland 4, Oak Hill 1
WALES – Haylie Kinney led four players to register goals for Rockland in a 4-1 victory over Oak Hill.
Ambyr Provost scored the lone goal for the Raiders (1-3), with an assist by Emily Ward. Maggie Sabine and Andrea Jenney combined for seven saves.
Mt. Abram 2, Monmouth 0
SALEM – Rachel Fullerton and Desiree Abbott broke a stalemate with second-half goals Wednesday to lift Mt. Abram to a 2-0 victory over Monmouth.
Emma James chipped in with an assist for the Roadrunners (2-1-1), while Kenni Norton made four saves in net.
Katie Woodman was busy between the posts for the Mustangs (1-2) with 14 stops.
Brunswick 6, Oxford Hills 0
BRUNSWICK – Allison Walton and Taylor Caron scored a pair of goals to pace Brunswick to a 6-0 victory over Oxford Hills.
Jessica Russell and Amy Pelletier each scored for the Dragons (4-0). Oxford Hills (1-3) keeper Sam Rivers had a commendable day in goal, stopping 26 shots.
