TURNER – A Citizenship Day pig roast will be held from noon to 10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, at the Village Farm on Route 4.

The menu will consist of pig, lobster, steak and chicken and beverages.

A live band will also be on hand.

Christopher Hathaway, proprietor, will donate 10 per cent of the profits to the Turner Memorial Post 111, American Legion, to aid in developing their child and youth and scholarship programs.

Membership to the American Legion will be available on site.

President Harry Truman signed a bill on Feb. 29, 1952, establishing Sept. 17 as Citizenship Day, which is the day the U.S. Constitution was signed in 1787.

The intent of the bill was to give recognition to those who had become American citizens during the preceding year.
