BRUNSWICK – The Theater Project’s 2007-2008 season will open with a Young Company production of “Alice in Wonderland,” directed by executive director Wendy Poole. The Young Company is the theater’s high-school acting company.

Last year, the company produced “Peter Pan,” “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” and its annual take on high-school life, “Voices in the Mirror.”

Besides “Alice,” which will run Oct. 26 to Nov. 4, the company will present an original production of Salman Rushdie’s “Haroun & the Sea of Stories.”

In November, The Young People’s Theater will present an original adaptation of the story “The Hanukkah Goblins.” Veteran Theater Project actor, director and teacher Lee K. Paige will direct the cast of middle-school actors.

In December, The Theater Project will present “Wales & Holiday Tales,” a collection of holiday and winter stories adapted for the stage. This includes Thornton Wilder’s “The Long Christmas Dinner” and Dylan Thomas’ “A Child’s Christmas in Wales,” a Hanukkah story and bits of circus magic. Artistic Director Al Miller will direct this annual community favorite.

In January and February, The Theater Project will offer its traditional cure for the holiday doldrums, “Winter Cabaret.” Poole will produce this evening of witty theatrical pieces and piano jazz, enriched by tasty desserts.

In March, Miller will direct the Young Company’s production of “Haroun & the Sea of Stories;” and in April, Keith Anctil will direct a middle-school cast in a Young People’s Theater production of “Our Series of Unfortunate Events.”

The Theater Project will welcome spring with a professional company production of “Steel Magnolias,” directed by Theater Project veteran Christopher Price.

For more information and reservations, call the Theater Project box office at 729-8584, between 1 and 5 p.m. during the week.
