Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but I feel the Sun Journal’s editorial opinion (Sept. 15) of former legislator William Walcott, D-Lewiston, was completely biased.

Despite his indiscretion, Walcott is still a good person. It takes a strong man to admit to doing something wrong and even more of a man to solve the problem he created. He is, after all, human.

I feel that the editorial statement “An honest man likely went into the Legislature. Something else, it appears, came out” is totally uncalled for.

I wonder if the editorial writer knows Walcott, or has taken the time to sit down with him and discuss the issues in the Legislature? I’m guessing that answer is no.

Is it not enough that the rest of the world thrives on smear campaigns and bad news.

The editorial really disappointed me.
