The Air Force has announced that Master Sgt. John D. LaChance was recently selected for promotion to the rank of senior master sergeant.

LaChance is assigned to McChord Air Force Base, Wash., where he serves as noncommissioned officer in charge of public health services.

His previous assignment was at Keesler AFB, Miss., where he was awarded the Humanitarian Service Medal for disaster relief provided immediately following Hurricane Katrina.

LaChance is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert LaChance of Lewiston.
