PARIS – In conjunction with the Oxford Hills Aspire Higher homecoming parade and in support of the Aspire Higher Initiative, the Western Maine University and Community College Center, 232 Main St., will hold an open house from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29.

Representatives will be available for a tour of the building and to provide information about the college courses held at the center.

This year’s annual Oxford Hills Aspire Higher homecoming parade will take place starting at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, beginning at the Middle School, traveling down Main Street and culminating at the Gouin Sports Complex.

Students from area schools, local businesses and community groups will march in the parade. The Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School football game will follow beginning at 1 p.m.

Grand marshal will be Pearl Starbird, local arts patron and philanthropist who has established a scholarship fund for area high school graduates who pursue college-level education in music or the arts.

In addition to the parade and homecoming events, more than 40 scholarships, provided by area businesses and community members, will be awarded to area students grades kindergarten through 12 during halftime.
