TURNER – There are many SAD 52 Adult and Community Education classes coming up in October and November.
A hydrangea wreath workshop will be held Wednesday, Oct. 10. On Saturday, Oct. 13, a nature walk and hike up Streaked Mountain will take place. A second nature walk will be held on Saturday, Oct. 27, up Monument Hill.
Babysitter training will begin Tuesday, Oct. 16, and run for eight weeks. It is for students ages 11 to 15. The course includes child and infant CPR certification. Students must attend all classes and pass the CPR test to receive certification.
“Medical Billing and Coding,” a 12-week class, will start Wednesday, Oct. 17. Basic computer knowledge and high school diploma/GED is a must for the course. Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive a certificate of completion, letter of recommendation and a list of companies in the field with addresses and phone numbers.
A dog obedience class will begin Wednesday, Oct. 24. Correction of behavioral problems will be offered. Leashes and collars need to be approved by the trainer or may be purchased from the instructor at the class. Rabies shots must be current.
A 13-inch autumn angel will be made in a workshop on Wednesday, Oct. 24. She has copper tulle wings and stick arms.
Participants will learn the different kinds of reptiles and amphibians in a one-day workshop on Saturday, Oct. 27. There will be slide shows, videos, hands-on experience and tales. Meet Cal, the California King snake.
The annual trip to Boston will take place on Saturday, Dec. 1, with a registration deadline of Nov. 26. Spend the day shopping and touring historic sites.
A class will be held Wednesday, Nov. 28, to make ornaments. A snowmobile safety class will be held Saturday, Dec. 8. In addition to these classes, there is a variety of online courses.
