Upcountry Artists planning annual show

CARRABASSETT VALLEY – The base lodge at Sugarloaf Mountain will be filled with members of Upcountry Artists as they hold their annual art and craft show on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 6 and 7.

Saturday hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free. The show is one of several activities that comprise Sugarloaf’s Homecoming Weekend.

Upcountry Artists provide a diversified show each year, and 60 members will show paintings, photography, furniture and other wooden products, including handmade bowls and pens, fabric items, floral arrangements and wreaths, baskets, ceramic pottery, Ukrainian eggs, leather wallets and bags, jewelry and stained glass.

The show generates the finances to enable Upcountry Artists to continue to fund their mission to promote and encourage the arts in the area. Scholarships are awarded annually to high school seniors furthering their education in the arts. Support is also given to Foothills and Art in the Park.

New members are always welcome. Meetings, programs and workshops are held from September to June. Speak to any exhibitor for information regarding membership or visit www.upcountryartists.com.
