VFW meeting
LEWISTON – The Longley-Dionne Post 9150, Veterans of Foreign Wars, will meet at 11 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 30, at the Lewiston Elks Lodge, 1675 Lisbon St. All officers and members are encouraged to attend.
The agenda includes membership, Buddy Poppy sales, Patriot Pen essay award and veterans programs. All eligible veterans are invited to attend and join the post.
La Survivance
LEWISTON – Sr. Marie May Lausier will be the guest speaker when La Survivance Franaise meets at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, in the seniors room at the Multi-Purpose Center. She will discuss the meaning of the month of October as dedicated to “Mary’s victory through the power of the Rosary” and as it applies today. Thérse Deschne will serve as hostess.
Legion agenda
LISBON FALLS – Nelson-Conley Post 66, American Legion, will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, at the Slovak Meeting Room, Avery Street. The agenda will include a report by Chris Dixon, Boys State delegates. All members, prospective members and active-duty personnel are invited.
Wisdom’s events
LEWISTON – Wisdom’s Center for Women will hold two special programs in October at 97 Blake St.:
Thursday, Oct. 4, 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., “Managing Your Money: How do I stretch my dollar and still save?,” presented by Donna Steckino, CEO, Community Credit Union.
Wednesday, Oct. 24, 12:30 to 2 p.m., “Story-Time for Moms,” presented by Klara Tammany, parent educator with Advocates for Children Participants will read a children’s book together and receive a free book to take home and share with their children. Bring lunch; child care will be available.
There is no fee for programs at Wisdom’s Center. To register, call 784-0155
Eating workshop
LEWISTON – Registered dietitian and veteran cook Jean Rocap, RD, LD, CDE, will hold an explorative workshop, “Psychology of Eating,” from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, at the Nutrition Center of Maine, 208 Bates St.
She will look at why we eat the foods we do and explore ideas on why and how we eat. Call Lewiston Adult Education to register at 753-5466. The class is limited to 25 people. The cost is $25.
