LISBON FALLS – Mary J. McCormick, 79, of Second Street in Lisbon Falls, died Thursday, Sept. 27.
Born on Jan. 24, 1928, she was the daughter of Annie Lawrence Johnson McElrath and Paul Johnson Sr. of Spartenburgh, S.C.
Mary was born and raised in Tucapaw, now Startex, S.C. She attended W.L.T. High School.
She worked for Belks Clothing Store for a year. She then worked for the Southern Bell Telephone Co. in Spartenburgh, S.C., Charlotte, N.C., and Jacksonville, Fla., for the next eight years.
She met and married James V. McCormick in Jacksonville.
James was in the army, and after extensive traveling and three daughters, they settled and retired in Maine.
Mary retired from Sears Roebuck and Co. on Dec. 31, 1990, after 23 years of service.
She and Joseph Coulombe, her longtime love and friend, spent winters in Arizona and summered in Maine.
She is survived by three daughters and their families, Cathy Fern Trudel and her husband, Sam, Rae Ann Johnson and Sally Kay Dunn and her husband, Floyd Jr. She had six grandchildren, Nathan, Emily, Jared, Lucy, Cari and Ashley; and three great-grandchildren, Ariel, Aiden and Summer. She is also survived by her brother, Paul Johnson Jr. of Roebuck, S.C.
She was predeceased by her brother, Joe Johnson;, her mother, Anne Lawrence Johnson McElrath of Welford, S.C.; and former husband, James V. McCormick.
She was a special mother, partner and friend.
