PARIS – Oxford County commissioners will begin holding two meetings every month starting Tuesday.

Tuesday’s meeting will take place at 5 p.m. in the commissioners’ office at the Oxford County courthouse. According to County Administrator Carole Mahoney Fulton, the evening meeting is designed to open the commissioners’ discussion to the public.

The agenda for the evening includes presentations by county Emergency Management Agency Director Scott Parker, Regional Communications Center Director Jim Miclon, and Sheriff Wayne Gallant.

Commissioners have traditionally met on the third Tuesday of the month beginning at 9 a.m. Penobscot County holds a commissioners’ meeting every week, while 10 of Maine’s counties hold two meetings each month. Besides Oxford County, Hancock, Knox, Sagadahoc, and Washington counties each have one meeting a month.

Commissioners will also meet Oct. 16. Due to scheduling conflicts, the November meeting will take place on Nov. 13 instead of the traditional third Tuesday of the month. Fulton said Tuesday’s meeting will include discussion of whether an additional meeting will be held in November.
